Elton John has shared the surprising words he wants to have on his gravestone after admitting he ‘doesn’t know how much time he has left’.
The ‘Rocket Man’ hitmaker, 77, shared about his health ahead of his new documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late, which looks back at his life and career.
John has had a number of health problems in recent years, including having both of his knees and one of his hips replaced.
The music icon was suffered to delay his 2021 Farewell Yellow Brick Road after having a procedure due to an unfortunate fall.
Speaking about his health, John said: “I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee.
He said: “I don’t have to work after this. I will work and do records and putting radio shows together but traveling takes so much out of you.
“It is very tiring. I am used to it. I am a veteran at it but this is where you start to think about mortality.”
“On my gravestone, all I want it to say is, ‘He was a great dad’,” the 77-year-old noted.
With husband David Furnish, 62, John shares children Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11.
“I want to see our children get married, but I don’t think I’m going to be around for that,” the ‘I’m Still Standing’ singer said.
The film producer said: “That really upset me, because in my mind I sort of think Elton is going to live forever – we all think that – and Elton is so vibrant that it’s an easy thing to believe, but it forces you to confront that reality.”
