A cheeky comment made by seven-year-old Prince Louis to his father, Prince William, has once again captured public attention, along with William’s composed response to the now-viral exchange.
The playful moment occurred during the VE Day celebrations in London, where the young prince attended the event alongside his parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as his older siblings—Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, 10.
The royal family was seated on the Buckingham Palace balcony to mark the 80th anniversary of Germany’s surrender in World War II. During the parade, sharp-eyed spectators noticed Prince Louis leaning toward his father, who sat beside him.
Lip-reading expert Nicola Hickling suggests the young royal was unimpressed by the weather. After William brushed rain off his own shoulder and remarked, “Look at this—I think it’s going to be quite wet today,” Louis allegedly responded with a candid, “Wasn’t this supposed to be fun?”
Despite the cutting remark, William remained composed. According to Hickling, he calmly reassured Louis, replying, “It is, son,” and added, “You will never forget this.” He then proceeded to explain how the parade would unfold: “They will come along here, and then go towards there, and then we will make our way back.”
He reportedly encouraged Louis to stay engaged, saying, “It’s not going to be long and I want you to be taking an interest.”
Meanwhile, Prince George joined the conversation, interjecting with, “I’ve got something in my eye.”
Another sweet interaction was spotted between Princess Charlotte and her mother.
Kate was seen asking her daughter, “Doesn’t papa look smart today?” from the sidelines.
Prince Louis was also caught lovingly mocking his brother George in a lighthearted moment. In a clip aired by Sky News, George was seen brushing his hair out of his face, which Louis promptly mimicked—exaggerating the motion, much to the amusement of royal fans online.
“Prince Louis copying his brother Prince George is so funny,” one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.
Another joked, “I cannot with Prince Louis. Look at him mimicking George and adding some ‘snazz’ to it. He is truly the moment.”
A third quipped, “That child IS EXTRA.”
